Lisa is a Foster Placement Officer in our fostering service and has shared an insight into her role with us.

How does your role support fostering?

My role is to find fostering families for children and young people who cannot remain in their family home.

What is your favourite part about being involved in fostering?

I find it very rewarding to be part of the journey in identifying and supporting a child or young person in a time of need, knowing that I have played a role in securing a safe and loving home, whilst they cannot be in their own home. I also love working alongside our many carers who show day in day out how dedicated they are to caring for children and feel it is a really fulfilling position to have supported no matter how big or small.

Can you share a positive fostering moment that has stood out to you?

I think the most rewarding part of the role is hearing and seeing the positive impact that fostering can have on a child or young person’s life, hearing of how they are thriving and celebrating their successes and achievements. When the right matching is achieved it really can change lives, for one family the right match is now leading to adoption.

What would your advice be to someone thinking about fostering?

If you are thinking about fostering please get in touch with us and we can talk you through the different types of fostering. Fostering can be so rewarding it allows you to positively impact the lives of children and young people and for some give them a life they would not have had otherwise. You will support them, care for them, celebrate in their successes and be there in their time of need, teach them and shape their future and create memories that last a lifetime.

Why should someone foster?

Fostering is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling career, if you have ever thought I’d like to make a difference to a child, fostering could be the answer. Fostering gives you the opportunity to welcome a child into your home and heart for however long they need i,t and make a real difference in a child’s journey

Why should someone foster with Peterborough City Council above anyone else?

Fostering with Peterborough allows local children to remain within their community, close to their school and friends, giving them a sense of stability at an otherwise uncertain time. Foster with Peterborough offer a supportive community of professionals and foster carers who have children and young people at the heart of everything we do.
