Our purpose

w
  • Who we are

We’re Peterborough City Council’s dedicated fostering service. With the incredible help of foster carers, we are responsible for ensuring that every local child and young person who comes into care gets the safe, supportive, and nurturing home environment they deserve.

  • Our goal

Whatever the duration of foster care that’s required, our goal is to provide the very best outcomes for all children and young people while they are unable to be with their birth family so they can reach their full potential. At the same time, we provide our foster carers with all the emotional, practical, and financial support they need to foster, as well as upfront and ongoing training to equip them for all fostering involves and to give them the choice to build a fostering career should they wish.

  • Why we stand apart

Peterborough City Council is a not-for-profit service, which is different to some Independent Fostering Agencies (IFAs) who are a profit-making business. This means our focus is solely on the welfare of the children and young people being cared for and the families who support them, not generating income. By choosing to foster with your local authority, you’re choosing a service that reinvests everything into helping children, young people, and foster carers to improve the outcomes for everyone involved while helping to keep as many local children in their home city of Peterborough.
