Be inspired by Jack's fostering story
Jack, a Care Leaver, from Peterborough has shared his inspiring fostering story with us. He shares his life before, during, and after foster care, to provide a real insight into the reality of fostering. Jack's experience is raw, real, and remarkable and well worth a watch. If you’ve ever thought about fostering, or even if it’s never crossed your mind, this film is sure to open your eyes to what’s possible.
We need more people (like you) to help us support local children!
Fostering is more than providing a safe space for a child or young person. It’s about showing them, often in their most vulnerable moments, that they matter and that they are loved. Fostering is one of the most rewarding roles you can take on in life and we'll be here to support you at every step of the way.

THE BENEFITS OF FOSTERING WITH US
We're Foster with Peterborough, part of Peterborough City Council, the city’s dedicated fostering service to ensure local children who are unable to be with their birth families, in whatever capacity that may be, receive the right care so they can have the very best outcomes in life. There are lots of benefits of fostering with us, as listed below.
Not-for-profit
When you foster with us, you guarantee that all the investments of us as a local authority go to the benefit of the children, young people and foster families we care for rather than a private business. Our commitment to improving our service ensures that both you and the children you foster have the best possible experience.
Children first, always
Our top priority is ensuring that children and young people in Peterborough receive the care they need. When a child enters foster care, it's our job as the local authority to match them with the most suitable foster family. Whenever possible, we prioritise placing them with our in-house foster carers, to provide the best possible fit for both the child and the foster family while keeping them local to their home of Peterborough.
Local dedicated support
Our support network is local to Peterborough. You'll join a community of local foster carers of diverse ages, experiences, and backgrounds, and benefit from our local in-person support group and events as well as dedicated one-on-one support for each child you may care for. We'll point you in the right direction for any useful training whenever you need it too.
Generous Financial allowances
Fostering is just as much of a rewarding career as it is a life choice. We provide our foster carers with generous financial allowances up to £29,172 per child (plus allowances!). By choosing a career in fostering, you're making a life-changing difference to children and young people.
