Eve is a Senior Practitioner in our fostering service and has shared an insight into her role with us.
How does your role support fostering?
I supervise foster carers to ensure that they feel supported and have the space to reflect within their roles, in order to meet the needs of the children within their care.
What is your favourite part about being involved in fostering?
Seeing the strength and resilience individuals can have when caring for children is inspiring.
Can you share a positive fostering moment that has stood out to you?
Celebrating the retirement of a foster carer who had been fostering for nearly 40 years. What a sense of achievement, pride and admiration!
What would your advice be to someone thinking about fostering?
Take in as much information as possible, discuss it with those that are closest to you and make that decision to become a foster carer. You will go on a huge journey, and it’s important to know who will be on that journey with you.
Why should someone foster?
Peterborough children and young people are in need of foster families that can support them to remain connected to their families, friends, school etc. We need more local people to become foster carers in order to support these children and young people to remain within Peterborough and the surrounding areas.
Why should someone foster with Peterborough City Council above anyone else?
As the Corporate Parent for these children and young people, we are able to support them to remain living locally. We have the benefit of being able to work closely with the other services involved.
